WESTERNISATION, THE INTERNET AND CULTURAL HOMOGENEITY: AN OVERVIEW

Abstract


In the 21st century, with the advanced development of technology, internet exist everywhere to deliver information all around the world and it is hard to find anyone working without using computer or cell phone. Online users are mainly in western countries, but in recent times an increasing number of non-western countries are using network widely. This has resulted in a vast amount of information flowing from western countries to non-western countries hence the popularisation of western values and western lingua franca.  Yet there are strong counterarguments to suggest that the internet spreading has not made the world become more diverse and free. This review demonstrate how  the popularity of internet has sharpened the proliferation of western value, its effect on people especially the our freedom in internet politics.
