Liverpool-based artist Dr Orange is set to release his highly anticipated debut album Late Night with Dr Orange on October 25th, 2024, under Juice Records. The release will be preceded by the debut single I Found You on September 27th, marking a major milestone in the artist’s rising career.
The album’s official launch event will take place on October 23rd at the world-famous Cavern Club in Liverpool. Known for his captivating live performances, Dr Orange will headline the show alongside a stellar lineup of local musicians, including Blue Jean, Brandon Tew, Ed Haslam of Pixey, Ryan Lavery from Bobby West and Edgar Jones, and Jake Westwood. The event is expected to draw significant attention, following the artist’s previous sold-out shows across the UK.
Produced by Jon Withnall, who has worked with high-profile artists such as Coldplay, Rihanna, and The Coral, Late Night with Dr Orange features a blend of classic guitar-driven space rock with modern pop melodies and vibrant choruses. The album also includes guest appearances from fellow Liverpool-based band The Sukis, adding to its distinctive sound.
Critics have already lauded Dr Orange’s work, with Clash magazine describing it as “superb” and FAME Magazine declaring him “a rising star”. The album has also garnered praise from notable musicians. Dave McCabe of The Zutons has referred to it as “lonely and frustrated man pop at its finest”, while Boff Whalley of Chumbawamba remarked, “Dr Orange can somehow recall decades of dirty rock ‘n’ roll and make it right here, right now, right good.”
Dr Orange’s latest work follows the success of his 2023 single 17, released on Jacaranda Records, which showcased his ability to blend nostalgic rock with contemporary influences. Reflecting on the creative process, the artist admitted the album wasn’t originally planned. “I had recorded five or six songs over the last year that were meant for an extended EP, but when we added the final tracks, it felt like all the pieces came together for a full album,” he explained.
The lead single I Found You holds special significance for the artist. “This was the last song I recorded for the album, but it’s the one I feel ties it all together. It’s a realist’s love song, capturing the emotions of the early stages of a romance,” Dr Orange said. Fans are eagerly awaiting the track, which promises to showcase his unique style.
2024 is shaping up to be a defining year for Dr Orange, who continues to make waves in the music industry. With praise from both critics and fellow musicians, his debut album is expected to solidify his position as one of Liverpool’s most exciting emerging talents.
