Global technology brand HONOR has announced that its forthcoming Magic7 Series smartphones will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform. At the Snapdragon Summit 2024, the company unveiled plans to create an AI-first ecosystem, marking a significant step forward in mobile technology. Alongside its partnership with Qualcomm Technologies, HONOR is integrating cutting-edge AI features, including the world’s first on-device AI Agent designed for an open ecosystem, and real-time AI graphics rendering for mobile gaming.
HONOR offered a glimpse of the new Magic7 Series at the event, showcasing the AI-powered innovations that will set it apart in the crowded smartphone market.
AI at the Heart of the Magic7 Series
In a bold move, HONOR has introduced Autopilot AI for mobile with the Magic7 Series, debuting the industry’s first on-device AI Agent for an open ecosystem. The AI Agent is designed to assist users with everyday tasks, such as ordering food or managing subscriptions, through simple text or voice commands. With user consent, the AI can even learn individual preferences over time, offering tailored experiences like remembering how someone takes their coffee or automatically handling routine requests.
The AI Agent also facilitates seamless interaction between apps and services, enabling functions such as travel planning, calendar scheduling, and cross-app file transfer, all from one central platform. This new feature is set to launch with MagicOS 9.0 on the Magic7 Series, marking a new era of intuitive, personalised mobile technology.
Dr. Ray Guo, CMO of HONOR Device Co., Ltd., commented on the brand’s commitment to innovation: “Openness and collaboration are in our DNA. Our partnership with Qualcomm Technologies allows us to define the AI-first ecosystem and revolutionise user experiences. We’re excited to introduce the industry’s first AI Agent for an open ecosystem and to bring on-device generative AI to gaming for the first time.”
AI-Driven Gaming Performance
One of the most groundbreaking innovations within the Magic7 Series is the introduction of on-device generative AI for mobile gaming, powered by NPU (Neural Processing Unit) computing. This marks the first time such technology will be available in a smartphone, allowing real-time AI graphics rendering. This innovation reduces GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) load, resulting in lower device temperatures and improved gaming experiences with higher-quality visuals.
Chris Patrick, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Mobile Handsets at Qualcomm Technologies, highlighted the importance of this collaboration: “We are excited to work with HONOR to shape the future of AI and redefine how people interact with technology. Together, we’re pushing the boundaries of what’s possible.”
Expanding the AI Ecosystem with MagicRing
HONOR also introduced MagicRing, its new technology designed to make the multi-device AI experience smoother and more secure. This platform enables seamless interactions between devices across the Snapdragon ecosystem. For example, users can create artwork using Cocreator on Windows on Snapdragon, then access their creations on the HONOR MagicPad 2. With tools like the Magic Pencil and the AI Eraser on HONOR’s MagicBook Art 14, the brand aims to integrate AI into every aspect of its users’ digital lives.
Empowered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform and MagicOS 9.0, the HONOR Magic7 Series is set to launch in China on 30th October 2024. The company promises to redefine mobile experiences through its advanced AI capabilities, with more details to be revealed at the upcoming launch event.
