As the cold and flu season begins, Inspirit Senior Living is taking proactive steps to safeguard the health of its residents by introducing cutting-edge disinfection solutions through its Pure Health program. This initiative, developed in partnership with Viking Pure Solutions, aims to bring innovative cleanliness technology to senior living communities, ensuring a safe environment for elderly residents.
The concept behind the Pure Health program is straightforward: to use a highly effective cleaning and disinfecting solution that helps keep seniors healthy and their living spaces free from cold, flu, and even COVID-19. The technology, however, is far more advanced, offering an innovative approach to maintaining hygiene and preventing illness.
Each Inspirit community is now equipped with a proprietary machine provided by Viking Pure Solutions. This machine uses a combination of salt and cold tap water, which undergoes an electrolysis process. This process separates the salt molecules into their fundamental components—sodium and chlorine—creating hypochlorous acid (HOCl), a powerful disinfectant that is naturally produced by white blood cells to fight infections. HOCl, the primary component of electrolyzed water, is now being used as the main cleaning agent in Inspirit’s Pure Health program.
Electrolyzed water is recognised for its effectiveness against a broad spectrum of harmful pathogens, including bacteria, viruses, and fungi. It has been registered with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as a disinfectant capable of killing 99.9% of germs, including Norovirus and SARS-CoV-2, the virus responsible for COVID-19. Additionally, it is effective on both hard and soft surfaces, making it versatile for various environments. The solution is green-certified, ensuring it is safe for both people and pets, and it is even safe enough to drink.
Under the Pure Health program, Inspirit communities follow a rigorous disinfection schedule. This includes daily cleaning of high-traffic areas such as lobbies and dining rooms, as well as disinfecting residents’ apartments during their regular housekeeping sessions. By providing extra attention to areas that require heightened sanitation, the program ensures that all spaces within the community remain as germ-free as possible.
Dave McHarg, CEO of Inspirit Senior Living, emphasised the importance of the new program in safeguarding residents. “Our Pure Health program exemplifies Inspirit’s commitment to leveraging innovative technologies that enhance the well-being of our communities,” McHarg said. “Nothing is more important to us than our residents’ well-being, and, knowing that seniors are often immunocompromised, I’m so proud of this program, which combines a unique approach with a partnership that bridges technological advancement and safety.”
By incorporating the Pure Health program, Inspirit Senior Living aims to provide a safer and healthier environment for seniors, reducing the risk of illness and ensuring that their communities remain protected during the colder months. This initiative highlights the company’s dedication to using technology to improve residents’ lives and maintain a clean, safe, and healthy living space.
