BigCommerce, the Nasdaq-listed open SaaS ecommerce platform, has announced the appointment of three senior executives as part of its strategy to boost growth and strengthen its go-to-market operations. The changes come under the leadership of the company’s new CEO, Travis Hess, and aim to enhance the firm’s presence across the B2C and B2B sectors.
The new appointments include Doug Hollinger as senior vice president of go-to-market strategy, John Huntington as senior vice president of global partnerships, and Ryan Means as senior vice president of global services. The company hopes that the combined expertise of the new leadership team will inject fresh momentum into BigCommerce’s marketing, partnerships, and customer service efforts.
Speaking on the new hires, CEO Travis Hess expressed optimism about the direction the company is heading. “Doug, John and Ryan are all luminaries in ecommerce. Under their leadership, we are rapidly transforming how BigCommerce markets, sells, and services our platform. Their deep expertise and vision will enable us to drive greater value for our customers and partners, and position BigCommerce for continued success,” he said.
Driving Market Strategy
Doug Hollinger, in his role as SVP of go-to-market strategy, will focus on refining BigCommerce’s value proposition and brand messaging for its B2B, B2C, and SMB audiences. His goal is to ensure that BigCommerce’s educational materials, sales strategies, and thought leadership are aligned with the needs of both internal teams and external partners. Additionally, Hollinger will help guide the company’s product development roadmap to ensure maximum customer benefit.
Hollinger joins BigCommerce from global consultancy Accenture, where he led B2C commerce strategy, with a focus on the retail and consumer goods industries. His 20 years of ecommerce experience also includes stints at companies such as BVA, LiveArea, and PFSweb, making him well-equipped to oversee BigCommerce’s ambitious plans for market growth.
Building Global Partnerships
John Huntington, as SVP of global partnerships, will oversee the development of BigCommerce’s agency partner network, which focuses on delivering superior customer experiences through innovative storefronts. Huntington will prioritise a “partner-first” approach to drive market expansion, revenue growth, and joint innovations with BigCommerce’s B2B and B2C partners. His extensive experience in the field will also help the company further monetise its partner programmes.
Before joining BigCommerce, Huntington was SVP of global alliances and channels at Siteimprove. He has over two decades of experience in ecommerce, having held senior leadership roles at Sitecore, LiveArea, and other firms in the sector.
Enhancing Global Services
In his new role as SVP of global services, Ryan Means will concentrate on streamlining BigCommerce’s service and support functions. His key tasks include implementing new customer accountability frameworks, improving service delivery through partner enablement, and aligning the company’s product roadmap with its enterprise strategy.
Means comes to BigCommerce from Merkle, where he was SVP of technology. He has also held significant positions at LiveArea and PFSweb, where he led various ecommerce and technology initiatives. His expertise lies in solving complex technical problems and delivering innovative solutions that help clients succeed in an increasingly competitive marketplace.
The appointments of Hollinger, Huntington, and Means are part of BigCommerce’s broader strategy to strengthen its position as a leading provider of ecommerce solutions for fast-growing and established B2C and B2B brands.
