Teesside-based tech firm Intasite has strengthened its commitment to STEM education by hosting a group of Year 9 students for a day of hands-on work experience. The initiative formed part of the Power of Women (POW) Female Empowerment Programme, a collaboration with the Cleveland Police Crime Commissioner’s Safer Streets project and Stockton Borough Council, aiming to boost equality and inspire young people, particularly girls, to explore diverse career paths.
The students, from North Shore Academy, spent the day at Intasite’s Stockton office, where they engaged in sessions focused on decision-making, financial planning, entrepreneurship, and careers in the digital and technology sectors. Working alongside Intasite’s audio-visual team, the students created their own professional health and safety induction video for LevelQ, a commercial office space in Stockton.
Claire Preston, Head of Operations at POW, praised the initiative: “Days like this are vital in inspiring young people to consider careers they may not have previously imagined. By breaking down gender stereotypes and showcasing local opportunities, we aim to demonstrate that their gender or postcode should never limit their ambitions. Intasite’s engagement was exceptional, and the students left with a renewed sense of possibility.”
The POW campaign was founded by North East business leaders, led by the late Professor Jane Turner OBE DL, in response to a report highlighting Middlesbrough as the UK’s “Worst Place to Grow Up a Girl.” Its mission is to enhance the prospects of young people across the Tees Valley, with the Safer Streets project focusing specifically on students in Stockton.
Intasite’s involvement reflects its broader commitment to nurturing young talent. Earlier this year, the company hired its first apprentice, Kayhan Kajumi, a T-Level graduate in Digital Production, Design & Development, through a partnership with Middlesbrough College.
Danielle Croce, Intasite’s Commercial Director, expressed her enthusiasm for the day’s success: “It was a pleasure to host such an enthusiastic group of students. We hope they left feeling inspired about the opportunities available in the tech industry and beyond.”
Paul Martin, Creative Director at Intasite, added: “The students demonstrated incredible creativity and enthusiasm during the video project. Watching their ideas come to life was rewarding, and we hope the experience gave them valuable insights into the tech and digital sectors.”
Intasite, a leader in digital safety and site access solutions, provides tools for safety-critical industries, including interactive induction modules, contractor management systems, and access control integrations. Its platform is designed to improve safety processes while offering flexibility through mobile and desktop compatibility.
By hosting events like these, Intasite continues to bridge the gap between education and industry, empowering young people to explore innovative career opportunities and championing gender equality in the workplace.
